Protein Diets

Cory makes mention of the Atkins Diet. What a train wreck. Here's a tip you might not know about, alcohol is a very bad thing to consume on this diet.

I did this diet for 2 months. Coupled with a lot of exercise I managed to lose about 10 pounds of fat. Hard to say that the diet caused the loss as I was working out like a fiend. Fast forward to the start of summer and going to the beach. I'm a big guy so consuming liquor isn't something I've ever had a problem with. Suffice to say 'Animal House' rang true for college years... So at a Sunday Brunch with friends I decided to have two mixed drinks, a bloody mary and a screwdriver. Granted, they were from the Starboard, a place not know for making watery drinks. But still, nothing more than past tolerance had ever had trouble handling.

13 hours later I awoke to discover this. I have no memory of how it happened; all 13 hours are just permanently gone from my memory. Not to mention serious facial surgery and two months of having my jaw wired shut.

Apparently my metabolism saw those fresh carbohydrates in that alcohol and consumed them like crazy. Hypodermically mainlining the vodka would have apparently been the only way to get more drunk. So if you're thinking of following the protein diet schemes be CAREFUL about consumption of alcohol. Your past ability to metabolize it will NOT be the same when you're on this program. I lived to tell the tale and nobody but me, the car and a pine tree were any worse for the wear. You and others might not be so lucky.
