How cold is it?

It's cold as the balls on a brass monkey. Cold enough to mean the cover on the Cadillac I'm selling is frozen to the car! I suppose I'm going to have to run a hose from the utility sink to douse it with hot water.

Update: the hose works better the water in it isn't frozen...

To my surpise I discover the window near the dryer vent already has a cover over a nice 1.5" hole. So I can run the hose up and out from the basement without opening a window and wasting the heat. Gotta love it when you find those little things the former homeowner added.

Fortunately a few minutes soaking in the utility sink thawed it right out. What dawned on me, however is running it would have made quite a mess. It's so cold that it'd have frozen right away. So I put a bit of it in a bucket and gently loosened the frozen spots. It was tedious. I put it whole frozen lump into a big lawn trash bag. That way I can thaw it indoors and then tumble dry it.
