Elizabeth Lane offers some interesting comments about the edges of emerging social network ideas.

This is been one of my points all along. There's a trend on the part of the in-crowd to deliberately devalue edge contributions. It almost seems as if the center actively fears what the edges might have to contribute. I see this writ large on weblogs and mailing lists every day.

If pictures get drawn of emerging ideas they're not going to have centroids where some folks think.
