Mozilla sucks
Cripes, why won't this crowd do decent SQA? After removing the old (working) 1.3 version and installing the new 1.4a version the damned thing barfs up some cryptic error about "xpcom.dll entry point not found" and then some crash gibberish. What it's not telling you is one of the many possible things that live in the Plugins directory has caused it to crash. Nor does it offer an advice on how to resolve it. What a piece of crap. So it's do the install/reinstall dance until the problem thing is found. Say what will about IE but at least the damned thing installs and runs.
For the morbidly curious, and the search engines, here's the text of the error messages:Application popup: mozilla.exe - Entry Point Not Found : The procedure entry point ?GetCString@nsFileSpec@@QBEPBDXZ could not be located in the dynamic link library xpcom.dll.
Which then lead to this one:Application popup: mozilla.exe - Application Error : The instruction at "0x61e00b75" referenced memory at "0x4349656f". The memory could not be "read".
The solution? Trash the whole directory and reinstall.
Suspiciously, now the machine won't reboot! Arrrrrgggghhhhhh....
