Resolving namespace URI?
Why is there no consensus on resolving namespace URI?
Me, I'd prefer there being an HTML (or XHTML) page at the URI's resolvable location. Then just embed extra link or meta tags that pointed to the XML and RDF schemata. Those and any other relevant documents that would help with the machine processability of the information in question.
What's the status of something like this? It can't be such a good idea that it's never been effectively tackled, or can it?
For RDF (I have no strong opinion on other namespace uses):
I agree that there's is no consensus, but I'd personally prefer either XHTML with embedded RDF schemata (in a comment) or conneg'ed, so RDF clients can get what they want (sometimes even expect).
