Ads in RSS feeds?
A thread emerges on Sam's site regarding advertising in RSS feeds. This is not new, nor is Infoworld anywhere near the 'first' in doing it. If I'm not mistaken the first time I'd seen an ad in an RSS feed was metafilter and this was well over a year ago.
The article mentions 'asking around' for comments. No such questions seem to appear on the various syndication related mailing lists. But there have been threads about this before. Here, here and here.
Likewise, where is this conversation among those who aren't offended by it?
Lastly, an ad for an RSS reader inside an RSS feed hardly sets up an example for broader tolerance.
Start jamming the unrelated drek as seen in yahoogroups. THEN you'll start to get genuine feedback. Lack of outcry because the audience is being tolerant doesn't conflate to acceptance. But hey, that's marketing.
