Easy as Pie?
Sam Ruby's got an effort going to establish the concept of what a Well Formed Weblog would provide via XML. The idea being there's probably some value in establishing a basic unit of weblogging that could be shared between different systems. I've met with Sam and talked with him on several occasions and I think he's on to something here.
We've all been reasonably happy with using RSS for this purpose. I say reasonably in that with the notable exception of one vendor being an uncooperative and selfish jerk, everyone involved has been great. The amount of shared intelligence brought to the table has been tremendous. I'd really like to see that sort of sentiment continue moving forward.
So my request is take a look at Sam's effort. Think about how it could be useful in your situation. If you'd like to see it address certain interests then raise your questions. If you think it's right on target then offer some supportive comments.
There continues to be an opportunity to move this stuff forward but it needs your help. Let's not leave it wait until the vendors stab us all in the back... again.
