.Net for fragging your ass
From the So do you think you could even begin to do this Java? department comes Quake II ported into C++ for .Net

Actually, from the screen shots and faq it looks like they ported it to C++ .net

Perhaps no-one has made a Java Quake2, but I can't believe that it's impossible.
