I really liked finger. Back in the Jurassic, when I was in college, it was the way our little techy circle kept track of what everyone was up to. Alas, like so many products of that bygone, civil era (Usenet, the talk daemon), it just didn't scale in a world full of script kiddies, spammers, and general idiots.
