UI memory issues?
Riddle me this, when using Windows 2000 and opening a LOT of browser and other windows sometimes the UI starts 'dropping out' bits of what it displays. This is fine, I realize there's a balancing act the OS has to play with what's being swapped in and out of memory. But I recently bumped this box up to 1gb of RAM and can't help but imagine there's something that can be tweaked to help avoid this problem. Something whose buffer size or something can be increased to help it understand that it doesn't have to be so stingy with how it manages memory for the UI.
Anyone got a clue on what sort of search keywords to use to find something that might help?
I've seen this, but only in Mozilla and Mozilla/Firebird. I haven't checked Bugzilla yet for it. Seems to be related to the number of image files being displayed, or their size, or perhaps if they are animated or not. IE has never exhibited the behavior. Mozilla does it consistently in Windows 2000 and XP at least and with both recent nVidia and ATI video cards.
