ANWR drilling
We will drill in ANWR. It's not a question of if, it's a question of when. A point to consider, if current oil reserves are being depleted then it's better to deplete foreign sources first.
Better to bleed them dry overseas before tapping one's own.
It may be rather cynical but consider that stability in those regions allows extracting the resources. Once those resources are gone regional stability won't matter. That the citizens of these regions aren't getting wise to this is a tragedy. A hundred years from now there won't BE an oil economy.
The solution is complex; more than just simplistic notions about conservation. Arguably, abmoninations like SUVs should be eliminated. But that isn't the only answer.
The larger issues of sustainable economies are much more important. But that's apparently too hard for most folks to comprehend.
