They didn't put GPS in a can. They put a mobile phone that has a GPS receiver in a coke can. Or perhaps it's not even GPS but they're simply faking it using triangulation from the mobile cells.

GPS is a *receive-only* system. Nothing in the satellites ever gets sent a signal from the ground. It's the ground-based device that picks up the signals from the satellites.

So for all you conspiracy nutjobs that think GPS is some sort of government tracking system, wake the hell up. But, then again, maybe it would help the rest of us sane people if the goverment was actually tracking your ass. If anything they could sell the info to Reynolds so they could keep you stocked in tinfoil for your hats.
