Error 8009 on your Palm?
Got a Palm and it won't Hotsync? Is the log showing an error 8009? Chris' was. HelpHand's FAQ has the fix.
Basically, fire up regedit, delete the HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\US Robotics\Pilot Desktop key. Make sure you first quit the currently running HotSync app from the system tray. Then open a cmd window, change directories to the Palm software (hers was D:\Program Files\Palm) and run it using the hotsync -r command. This will cause the HotSync program to rebuild it's settings and let you resume normal use of it.
Once again the net comes to the rescue. When in doubt, search for it!
Update:Mail from Brian Cantoni at Palm indicates they've got a webpage and a downloadable tool to help deal with this situation.
It would appear the vendors are listening to weblogs.
I make a habit of posting my success stories in dealing with various products, hassles and their fixes. Mainly to help make sure someone searching for solutions will find it using familiar keywords. Sometimes the stuff's buried in various forums, knowledgebases, or webpages that lack decent search engine coverage. My post might be the only visible search result. Make sure you post your own stories, if just to help others.
